Alternatives To 5 Chinese Apps Banned By The Government

The Indian government finally took action on 29^th June 2020 by banning 59 Chinese apps including TikTok which had a huge customer base in India with about 200 million users.

The move came after tensions at the border increased in the Galwan Valley region.

Since the beginning of such tensions, social media had been flooded with posts using #boycottchina, which showed the sentiments of the public in general.

Many social media influencers had appealed to their followers to uninstall all Chinese apps from their devices.

REACH OF CHINESE APPS

Chinese apps have been of major help to a lot of users around the world. From apps like CamScanner to (Zoom which was not included in the list of 59 apps), these apps have become very essential for a person’s day to day activities.

It is also important to notice how these Chinese apps had actually made their huge customer base in India through sponsored videos. Apps like Vmate, Likee, Club Factory among others were actually sponsoring those social media influencers who had audiences aged between 15-30.

These Chinese apps were easily able to capture the market as India has the largest population in this age group.

Now since they have been banned, here are a few alternatives that can help you continue your work.

Adobe Scan instead of CamScanner

JioSwitch instead of Xender or Shareit

File transfer with JioSwitch is as smooth as it can get. You can transfer files from other devices easily within no time. JioSwitch is developed by Reliance Jio an Indian company.

Google Chrome/Bharat Browser instead of UC Browser 

If you’re someone who uses Xiaomi, Vivo, or Oppo smartphones, you might be aware of the UC Browser, which you can replace by either google chrome or the Indian browser Bharat browser.

KineMaster instead of VivaVideo

Video content creators can benefit by using KineMaster for capturing and editing videos, through their mobile phones. KineMaster is a company based in Seoul, South Korea.

It is going to be hard to stop using Chinese apps and products immediately but we can get there gradually.  This is because more than half the products in our home are Made in China if they are not, the raw materials are probably Chinese companies.
